What is Gutenberg?
Gutenberg is the default post/page editor in WordPress. It works on a block-based layout that’s why it is it is known as a block editor. Earlier, the default WordPress editor used to be very simple. The immense growth of WordPress created the demand for a good default editor.
The WordPress team understood the need and came up with Gutenberg Editor. Although, it’s in the beta stage currently and has a long way to go. Despite this, the block editor is extremely popular among WordPress users.
Key Features of Gutenberg Block Editor
Gutenberg is not famous for it’s features. It is popular for its minimalist interface. However, the features are less compared to Elementor. But the available features are great and do the job perfectly. We will discuss the key features here.
Super Impressive For Bloggers
The Gutenberg editor works silky smooth. It provides you with so much power to make your blogs creative. Moreover, Gutenberg has the abilities of post editor and page builder. Unlike the old editors, it makes tasks so much fun.
Faster Loading Sites
In terms of speed, Gutenberg is hands down the fastest editor. It is much faster than a then Elementor. Why so? Because a page builder consists much more features than an editor. But more features do not guarantee a better experience.
For instance, you will not even use most features. But they are there, whether you use them or not. As a result, pages created by a page builder are on the heavier side.
Gutenberg is Simple to Use
Gutenberg is among the most simple page builders/editors. It is developed more like a post editor. Despite being similar to a post editor, it can do pretty much the same thing as a page builder.
It isn’t a feature-packed editor. However, it covers most of the essential elements you need to create a good webpage.
What is Elementor?
Elementor is one among the most popular page builders in WordPress. You can download it for free from the WordPress plugin repository. However, it has a paid version in case you need it. If not the best, it is the most simple page builder out there.
That’s the reason many WordPress users start their journey with Elementor. It offers pretty much everything that you need on your website for free.
You can make complex pages for your site without coding. Just some drag and drop and you can create the site of your choice.
Moreover, you will get pre-made templates with it. If you don’t want to create the site from scratch, customize these pre-built sites. The good thing is you can see these changes live while editing.
Main Features of Elementor
Elementor is one of the most feature packed page builder. It is very difficult to cover all features, so we will compare the most important one’s here.
Super Easy to Use
Elementor is extremely simple to use. Even a beginner can use it comfortably. Choose the desired feature from the layout and drop it where you want. This is how simple creating a webpage with elementor is.
Compatibility
Doesn’t matter how many features a page/builder or editor has. If it is not compatible with your theme, it is of no use. Fortunately, Elementor is compatible with almost all themes out there. The chances are very high, it is compatible with your theme too.

Responsive Design
It is surprising knowing that there are more small-screen web users than PCs. That is why having a website isn’t enough, it must be responsive. If your visitors find it difficult to get the desired information, you know what will they do. Your guess is correct, they will leave.

Gutenberg VS Elementor:Final Thoughts
The debate of Gutenberg VS Elementor will go on forever. They both have their own pros and cons and can be used in different circumstances. However, the default editor will do most of the work for you.
As for now, Gutenberg is in the improvement stage. Although, it is catching up with the page builders very fast. Soon it will become a full-fledged page builder and editor.
At this moment, if I have to choose one between these two? I will prefer Elementor over Gutenberg. The reason behind this is, Gutenberg is more limited. Maybe the scenario will change but for now Elementor is my choice.
Elementor is a proper page builder, that can do everything related to designing. However, speed is something that you have to manage. On the other hand, Gutenberg is built to add elements to the layout not to design the layout. You can not change the dimensions of a div or section in it. Maybe in the future, they will change these things. These limitations make me like Elementor more for now.
