More About Edge Theme

The Edge theme is created by THEMEFREESIA. Its design is simple and minimalistic you will surely like it. The theme is based on modern technologies. You can download both free and paid versions here.

It is fully responsive to use on all devices. In addition, it is well-coded and maintained by its developers. With that said let’s dive into the theme and observe it inside out.

What did I like About Edge?

The theme offers some really good features. I will cover the most important ones in detail below.

Simple and Minimalist Design

The first thing I noticed after activating the theme is the Minimalist Design. Don’t get me wrong, If you like bright colors and dark pattern-based themes. Then you may find it, not so impressive. Otherwise, the design is excellent. From font to color everything is on point.

Edge is Responsive

Easy access to the internet resulted in a huge growth in web use. Now people from all over the globe have access to the web. The interesting thing is they are mobile, tablet, and PC users. Small screen device users are now more than ever.

Some developing countries like India and African countries have more small screen users than PCs. As a result, it is of utmost importance for developers to make themes responsive. The Edge is fully responsive on all devices.

During our testing, we tested the theme on multiple devices. We tested the theme with images and demo articles but didn’t find any issues.

Customer Support and User Experience

One of the most important things while choosing a theme is its support. The problem with a free theme is the lack of support. Luckily, that’s not the case here.

The theme provides good support to existing users. 6000+ active installations with an impressive 5-star rating are proof of the good support. If you are stuck anywhere while using the Edge theme you can contact the support forum and expect quick support.

Multiple Customizer Features

One of the important things with a theme is the features should be easily accessible. The reason behind this is, not all people have an interest in technology.

The theme user can be a small blogger, a businessman, or a retail shop owner. Either way, the theme must be simple to understand for all of them.

Edge is extremely simple to use. All features are easily accessible through the customizer and can be customized with live preview.

High-Quality Started Sites

Starter sites are very useful for theme users. They give users the power to make their dream site with little to no knowledge.

With Edge, you will get three started sites. They are high quality and ready to use for your new website. Just drag and drop the features you like and that’s it, you are good to go.

Transparent Sticky Menu

A sticky menu is a type of modern menu layout. It makes navigation immensely simple for users. Generally, this feature is reserved for the paid version. Luckily that’s not the case here.

You will get the sticky menu feature with the free version also. The sticky menu here is transparent, which looks even better than a normal sticky menu.

WooCommerce Compatible

You can build your online store with Edge as it is fully WooCommerce compatible. No coding and extra effort are required. You can create your full-fledged online store by just installing a WooCommerce plugin.

Edge is SEO Friendly

Along with a good design, a theme should be SEO-friendly. Because the ultimate goal is to rank higher on google searches isn’t it? Edge was created by its developers while keeping SEO(search engine optimization) in mind. As a result, it will help you create sites rank high on search engines.

Cons of the Edge WordPress Theme

Average Sidebar

The average sidebar in the theme isn’t impressive at all. In addition, there is no option to choose a sidebar location. It would be better if a hide/change sidebar location was available.

I am saying this is a deal breaker and the Edge theme is bad. However, the availability of these features would have made users like this theme more.

Fewer Demo Imports and No Custom Post Types

The theme offers 3 starter sites. Although these are high-quality demos it would have been better if they have added more. Especially, when competitors are provides much more than this.

Edge Theme-Free Vs Pro

I like the free version more than the paid one. Almost all the basic features are free, which is good enough for starting a site. Although, the design for both versions is the same. If we compare both versions, then the difference isn’t much.

You will not feel a significant difference after shifting to the paid version. The lack of features like custom post types and multiple demo sites can be made better. I hope they will add these missing features in the future. For now, I liked the free version more.

Final Thoughts on Edge

Overall, the Edge is a good theme to use. Its minimalist design layout and good customer support make this theme worth checking. However, there is a scope for improvement as I already talked about.

In conclusion, I would say if you were in search of a simple and minimalist theme with good consumer support. You can surely give Edge a try.

Although, I recommend using the free version first. Then decide if you need the paid one. For more info, you can go and check all the differences between both versions and then make your decision.
