❓ How Does This Calculator Work?

This tool does not use random numbers. It follows the exact formula the government used in the last two Pay Commissions (6th and 7th).

Here is the simple math behind your new salary:

1. The “Fitment Factor” (The Multiplier)

This is the most important number. The government takes your Current Basic Pay and multiplies it by a specific number called the “Fitment Factor.”

  • 7th Pay Commission (2016): The factor was 2.57.

  • 8th Pay Commission (2026): Experts expect it to be between 1.92 and 2.86.

Our calculator lets you test all 3 scenarios:

  • 1.92 (Low): If the government is strict with money.

  • 2.28 (Likely): The most expected outcome.

  • 2.86 (High): What the Employee Unions are fighting for.

2. Dearness Allowance (DA) Merger

Every time a new commission starts, your DA (which might be 50% or 60% by then) is merged into your Basic Pay. The new DA starts from 0%.

3. New HRA and TA

When your Basic Pay goes up, your House Rent Allowance (HRA) and Transport Allowance (TA) also go up automatically.

  • X Cities (Delhi, Mumbai, etc.): 30% HRA

  • Y Cities (Jaipur, Lucknow, etc.): 20% HRA

  • Z Cities (Rural areas): 10% HRA

📋 Salary Table: 7th CPC vs. 8th CPC (Projected)

Here is a quick look at how salaries might jump for different levels if the government approves a 2.28x factor.

Pay LevelOld Basic (Today)New Basic (2026 Est.)
Level 1₹18,000₹41,040
Level 2₹19,900₹45,372
Level 6 (GP 4200)₹35,400₹80,712
Level 10 (GP 5400)₹56,100₹1,27,908

Note: These are estimates. The final table will be released in the Gazette Notification.

👴 Good News for Pensioners

If you are retired, the 8th Pay Commission is even simpler for you. Your pension will likely increase by the same Fitment Factor.

Example:

If your current basic pension is ₹20,000, and the government sets the factor at 2.28:

New Pension = ₹20,000 × 2.28 = ₹45,600

You can use the “Pension” tab in the calculator above to check your specific amount.
